I know someone who was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, or MDD. For years, she had to endure inexplicable sadness which would last for days and even weeks. She was at her lowest and she was at her breaking point when she decided she needed help. She sought a psychiatrist and after the first consultation, she was given the diagnosis.
Before that, she constantly talked about how she found it nearly impossible to fall asleep, how her mind lingers for hours on end focusing on everything bad that has ever happened in her life. She also showed signs of extreme exhaustion and her personality changed drastically. She used to be the life of the party, always the person someone runs to when they have issues and challenges and she has been a reliable source of strength for most of the people around her.
After deciding she needed help, she started with her medications. But for someone who is not used to taking tablets even when sick, she started to ask if there were alternative ways to help with her condition. Her psychiatrist offered therapy and she went through with the program for a while. Eventually, her condition started to improve and she was able to get back on her feet. Until a few months later, she was hit with another episode and she knew she needed a permanent fix for her issues.
This is how we ended up searching the internet for alternative options.
We came across an article that really sparked our interest – “Free CBD gummy samples” was mentioned and we looked at each other and smiled sheepishly. Somehow, we were on the same page without even talking about what we were thinking. First of all, gummies? They sound adorably delicious! So, we continued to do some research and found all the free samples we can find. We spent some time experimenting on the effects on her based on the recommended doses, how often she should take it, etc.
After a few months, she shared that she had noticeable changes that were positively improving her way of life. She slept better and was managing the chronic pain in her back and shoulders. She also had fewer instances of sudden bouts of sadness and she has become less irritable. Quality sleep helped her manage stress and she has become more productive and is slowly getting her groove back. She has become more sociable again and spends more time being around people (virtually, of course. Covid is still very much active) and has started taking on new projects again. She has an obvious abundance of renewed energy and she puts it to good use.
With all these facts, I want to make one thing clear, though. This is not concrete evidence that CBD works, or that CBD will work the same way for you if you are suffering from the same condition. I just find it truly rewarding to have witnessed my friend suffer and emerge from under, stronger than ever.
